Youth Council
Introduction
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Youth Council was re-launched in May 2010.
The Youth Council requires members aged 11 - 18 years old to be elected from schools, youth centres and other youth groups.
Aims and Objectives
- To participate in the planning, delivery and evaluation of services for young people
- To meet with and influence decision makers
- To consult with young people and decision makers
- To promote positive images of young people
Benefits to Young People
In addition to representing your school, youth centre or youth group there are many benefits to being on the Youth Council.
- Carrying out staff interviews
- Taking part in consultations
- Inspecting youth clubs and projects
- Meeting with Borough Councillors and managers
You will also gain valuable training, which could include:
- Public Speaking
- Debating
- Interviewing
- Working with the media
- Budgeting
- Team skills
- Meeting Skills (Being a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary etc)
All the time you spend on your work as a Youth Council Member will be recorded and can be used to gain National accreditations including:
- Berkshire Award
- Duke of Edinburgh (Volunteering Section)V Involved Certificate (over 16s only)
All of the above look really good on University applications and CVs.
