What To Do?
What to do if you are being bullied...
Always speak to someone - this might feel scary but if you don't speak out then the situation might not change.
Think about who you might like to tell -
- A parent or carer
- A teacher at your school
- An older brother or sister
- One of your friends
- May be a friends older brother or sister
- A Youth Worker
- A Social Worker
Once you have told someone, then you can work together to decide what to do next, get as much support, if you have told a parent it might be that they can call the borough's parent help-line, where they will be able to get advice and information.
DON'T fight back as this could get you into trouble and really isn't the best way to deal with bullying.
Suggestions for Young People...
- Stop thinking like a victim - Walk Tall... pretend you are confident even if you are not in front of the bullies but don't hide your feelings from your friends and family.
- Laugh at or ignore comments...Bullies are ignorant and cowardly.
- Sign up for Self-Defence courses not to 'fight back' but to help build your confidence.
- Do not stop if bullies confront you, keep walking and get someone to notice what they are doing without you telling them.
- Keep a diary of all the events - Time and Place and What is said.
