About Us

I know what you are thinking…….. What is WAMSTER?

WAMSTER stands for……. Windsor, Ascot and Maidenhead Youngsters.

The website project comes from the government's requirement that local authorities improve their information provision to young people by ensuring that it is comprehensive, accurate and accessible. It is also required that local authorities publicise information about positive leisure time activities, and facilities for such activities in the authority's area, and keep the information up to date.

The purpose of the consultation was to place young people at the heart of the design and build of the website and to create an opportunity for young people across the Borough to identify the subject matter for the website that is of interest or concern to them. 266 young people participated in the consultation on the subject matter for the website that was held in February 08; and 275 young people participated in the consultation on the name for the website that was held in July 08.

How we did consult with you, the young people? We……..

  • Placed the questionnaire on the Borough website, which could be
    completed and submitted online.
  • Distributed to the local Youth Centres, schools and libraries.
  • Global email to the schools and partner organisations.
  • Press release inviting young people to participate in the consultation.
  • Registered the consultation with the Children's Service.
