UNICEF Junior 8 Summit Competition
An exciting initiative that UNICEF UK runs for children and young people, the Junior 8 Summit.
What is the Junior 8 Summit?... Get Involved!
J8 is a unique chance for young people aged 14 -17 to explore world issues, develop proposals and solutions and to present their views and recommendations to world leaders at the G8 summit. UNICEF UK runs a schools and youth-based competition to select a team of four young people to represent the UK at the J8 2009. This initiative is an excellent opportunity for young people to deepen their understanding of global issues affecting children, build their skills in teamwork, project planning and communication and to represent the UK on the world stage.
Participating teams will be asked to submit written or video entries outlining their knowledge of and suggested solutions to addressing issues including:
· the environment and climate change,
· HIV and infectious diseases and
· One other issue they think is paramount to the lives of children.
Teams are also asked to outline their existing social commitment and contribution and encouraged to mobilise and involve others in their work.
The competition will be promoted and facilitated via UNICEF UK's youth voice website and other relevant networks. Full information and the Terms and Conditions of the competition can be found at: www.unicef.org.uk/youthvoice/j8 . The closing date for the competition will be April 8th 2009.
